It's not easy being green. Especially when it's the wrong shade.

A Winslow Township mom identified only by her first name of Crystal tells Fox 29 that she sent her 8-year-old twin daughters Kylie and Karlie to school wearing green tops.

Crystal said that she received a phone call from the vice principal of Winslow Township Elementary School No. 4 warning that Kylie would be suspended if she wore the shirt again. The next day the girls were running late, Kylie grabbed the shirt again and was suspended when all three arrived at school. Crystal admits that she and Kylie messed up but "to suspend a child over the shade of a shirt. I found it a little ridiculous," she explained.

According to the district dress code posted on the district's website, a uniform policy has been in place since September 2014.  "When a student fails to comply with the dress policy, the student will receive 1 out of school suspension per infraction," according to the handbook.

Email and phone messages left for the school superintendent have not yet been returned.
