William Liepe Facing Up To 50 Years in Prison Following April, 2011, Crash
A man from Hamilton Township is facing up to a half-century in state prison after being convicted of aggravated manslaughter following an accident in April, 2011, that killed a 9-year-old boy.
The Press of Atlantic City reports 62-year-old William Liepe has been convicted on aggravated manslaugher and two counts of aggravated assault charges. Liepe was accused of drunken driving when he caused a three-vehicle accident on Cologne Avenue that killed 9-year-old Ryan Schleyer, paralyzed an 11-year-old, and injured several other people.
The crash occurred back in April, 2011. Prosecutors said Liepe's car rear-ended a vehicle that Schleyer was riding in, which sent it into oncoming traffic. That vehicle was then struck by a SUV.
