Two Injured in DWI Crash in Hamilton Township

Two people were treated for injuries following a hit and run crash in Hamilton Township Monday afternoon. One driver is now facing DWI charges.

Just after 2:00 Monday afternoon, Hamilton Township Police responded to Route 552 and Pittsburg Avenue for the report of a hit and run crash. Their investigation determined an eastbound vehicle being driven by 48-year-old Sonya Ivanovs of Millville was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by 30-year-old Brian Waechter of Bridgeton. Police say Waechter's vehicle crossed the center line into Ivanovs' lane.

A witness followed Waechter's vehicle into Vineland, where it was stopped by Vineland Police and State Troopers. Ivanovs, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was taken to ARMC-City to be treated for injuries while Waechter was taken to AtlantiCare Medical Center-Hammonton for evaluation.

Waechter was issued multiple summonses, including charges for driving while intoxicated. Additional charges are pending further investigation by Hamilton Township Police.
