Black Friday shoppers had a thick blanket of fog to deal with in the early hours of Friday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for most of the state, except Sussex and Warren counties, with fog limiting visibility to a quarter-mile or less in some areas.  Drivers are advised to use caution on the roads.

The New Jersey Turnpike restricted speed to 55 mph between Exit No. 1 for the Delaware Memorial Bridge and Exit No. 12 (Carteret) and to 45 mph on the George Washington Bridge. The speed limit on the Outerbridge Crossing and Goethals Bridges was reduced to 35 mph.

The fog slowed down but didn't stop shoppers. The Jackson Premium Outlets, which opened at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and stayed open all night, had a full parking lot around 4 a.m. in fog-shrouded Jackson.

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow expects the fog to lift later in the morning as temperatures rise into the 60s.
