Kimberly Pack, the daughter of slain South Jersey radio host April Kaufman, made a statement today to announce she would move forward in an attempt to block her stepfather from benefiting from a life insurance policy taken on her mother.

April Kaufman, 47, was murdered in her Linwood home on May 10th, 2012.  No one has ever been arrested for the crime.

Kaufman's husband, Dr. Michael Kaufman, has filed suit against a life insurance company claiming breach of contract for not paying out on two policies which name him as beneficiary in the event of her death.

The Transamerica Life Insurance Company has responded that, under the "Slayer Statute",  it is unclear who should get the $600,000 in insurance money, because the case remains an open homicide. Pack is listed as the contingent beneficiary of the policy.

The Slayer Statute bars anyone who intentionally caused harm to another to benefit from monetarily.

Kimberly Pack, speaking from her attorney's office said that now that she has been brought in to the civil case, "I can no longer sit back."
