The state is reviving its effort to attract smaller boutique casinos to Atlantic City.

Politicians are planning to change the requirements of a law designed to attract developers willing to build new, smaller, and cheaper casinos in the city. Later this week, a state senate committee will debate a bill that removes a requirement that one of two proposed projects eventually must expand to 500 rooms. A requirement that smaller casinos must be in a new building will also be changed to allow gambling halls in existing buildings.

Governor Christie signed the bill into law almost four years ago, however, no boutique casinos have been built in the city.
