A new Monmouth University Poll shows GOP incumbent Frank LoBiondo holds a 21-point lead over Democrat Bill Hughes, Jr., in the race for the state's 2nd district House seat.

The poll among likely voters finds 56% will support Frank LoBiondo while 35% will vote for Bill Hughes, Jr., 2% will vote for a third party candidate, and 7% have not yet decided. Republicans support LoBiondo by a 91%-to-5% margin while democrats support Hughes by a 76%-to-16% margin. Independents also support LoBiondo by a large margin.

Patrick Murray of the Monmouth University Polling Institute says, “LoBiondo has held his seat for two decades because of significant crossover appeal in a district that otherwise trends Democratic. To put it plainly, district voters, including many Democrats, simply like Frank LoBiondo."

The poll was conducted from October 12 to 14, 2014, with 438 voters likely to vote in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. The margin of error is + 4.7%.
