It's been 15 years since the body of a 31-year-old Toms River mother was found in a wooded area in Lakewood, and police say they're not giving up on the search for her murderer.

Gabrielle Mueller was last seen alive on Sunday April 1, 2001, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Al Della Fave said in a statement Friday. She was reported missing to the Toms River Police Department the following morning.

Following a search, police discovered her body in a wooded area off Salem Street in Lakewood, not far from Lakewood Industrial park. An autopsy was done and revealed her cause of death to be strangulation. Her death was classified as a homicide, police say.

According to Della Fave, Mueller's car, a blue Toyota, was found a day after her body was found.

Authorities say there are still no suspects in the case, but the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Cold Case Unit continues to investigate Mueller's death and will pursue any leads.

"To date though OCPO and OC Law Enforcement have not developed any significant clues pointing to the individual(s) responsible for her death, we will never stop seeking justice for Gabrielle and her loved ones," Della fave said in a statement.

Anyone with information about Mueller's murder is asked to contact the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Major Crime Unit at 732-929-4760 or Det. Sgt. Greg Staffordsmith of the Lakewood Township Police Department, Detective Bureau at 732-363-0200, ext. 5318.
