New Jersey's gusty wind and coastal flooding threats are done, as we transition to sunny skies and above-normal temperatures.

Here are your weather headlines for Tuesday, October 6, 2015...

Much Better

This weekend's coastal storm system and Hurricane Joaquin were a powerful combination, but are now moving further and further away from the U.S. East Coast. That has already led to improving weather conditions for New Jersey.

Winds will be lighter for Tuesday, sustained at about 10 to 15 mph across the state (maybe gusting to about 20 mph at the Jersey Shore)... a far cry from this weekend's 50+ gusts. Skies start out mostly sunny, although scattered clouds are likely through the afternoon. High temperatures will be just above normal for early October, ranging from about 69° in North Jersey to about 75° in South Jersey.

Pleasant Weather Continues

High pressure takes control of our atmosphere, and that almost always means quiet, boring weather is on the way. No complaints here!

Tuesday night will be seasonably cool, with temperatures mostly in the 50s.

Abundant sunshine on Wednesday should push high temperatures to the mid 70s across much of New Jersey. Winds will stay light, and the surf will likely stay rough.

A weak front is scheduled to pass through New Jersey late Wednesday, which will introduce some clouds and knock temperatures back a few degrees. This frontal passage looks dry, although I would not completely rule out a few sprinkles or a shower. Thursday's high temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Wednesday, but still right around normal in the upper 60s.

Next Chance of Rain

A stronger front looks to push through New Jersey Friday afternoon. Before the front, Friday's high temperatures should recover to the lower 70s by early afternoon. A line of rain will sweep across New Jersey at some point on Friday. Convective indices are elevated a little bit, so a few rumbles of thunder will be possible. But this rainfall will not really amount to much... rainfall totals are expected to stay below 0.50".

The other result of this front will be cooler, very autumnlike temperatures for the weekend. Saturday's highs are currently forecast to be in the lower 60s, while Sunday will be a bit more seasonable in the upper 60s. 70s should return to thermometers by next week.
