Parkway Accident Kills a Father and Son from Linwood
A father and son from Linwood were killed early Saturday morning in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Galloway Township.
According to the Press of Atlantic City, State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman said troopers responded to a report of a vehicle off the roadway near Exit 44 in Galloway Township. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle at the edge of the woods off the southbound lanes. The two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, later identified as 53-year-old James Friedrich and his son, 22-year-old Justin, both from Linwood.
James’ wife, Denise, told The Press of Atlantic City her husband had operated a home repair business from Linwood and was known for being friendly and outgoing. Denise said her husband was driving home after picking up his son from Paramus. Justin graduated from Mainland Regional High School in 2009.
Grossman said a preliminary investigation found that Friedrich’s vehicle left the Parkway along the left shoulder and re-entered, then rotated clockwise and exited the roadway again to the right. It continued along a grassy area before hitting several trees with the drivers’ side. The vehicle then rolled onto the driver’s side and came to rest facing to the north.
