Here's some good news. The scheduled toll increase on five Cape May County bridges has been postponed until 2025.

Toll Hike Paused on Five Cape May County Bridges

The scheduled toll increase on five bridges under the control of the Cape May County Bridge Commission has been put off until 2025 to promote tourism, according to reporting in OCNJDaily.

What Bridges Are Affected?

The five bridges are run by the Cape May County Bridge Commission.

- Ocean City/Longport Bridge

- Corsons Inlet Bridge between Ocean City and Strathmere

- Townsends Inlet Bridge between Sea Isle City and Avalon

- Grassy Sound Bridge between Stone Harbor and North Wildwood

- Middle Thorofare Bridge between Wildwood Crest and Cape May

What is the 2024 Toll for These Five Bridges?

The bridge toll for these bridges will remain at $2.50 for cars.

The tolls increased by 50 cents in 2022 and by 50 cents in 2023. The plan was to increase the tolls by another 50 cents in 2024 to bring in more revenue for the maintenance of the aging bridges along Ocean Drive.

When Are the Tolls Now Scheduled to Increase?

The Cape May Bridge Commission approved the measure to delay the toll increase at their monthly board meeting on Thursday, Jan 18th.

The plan is to delay any toll increase until at least Feb. 1st, 2025. The commission said that they would consider at that time the possibility of delaying the toll increase even longer.
