Mayor Don Guardian says if you loved the free concerts on the beach in Atlantic City last summer, in addition to all of the shows at Boardwalk Hall and at the casinos, you will love this summer.

During the monthly Ask The Mayor program on WPG Talk Radio 1450AM Wednesday evening, Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian said Atlantic City was the absolute entertainment capital of the Jersey Shore last summer, with several free beach concerts and numerous huge shows at Boardwalk Hall and at the casinos. Mayor Guardian went on to say that the city is working very hard to bring last summer's excitement to the summer of 2015. The city is already doing a lot of work on the Thunder Over The Boardwalk Airshow, in addition to planning fireworks shows, concerts on the beach and Boardwalk, and at Gardner's Basin.

Mayor Guardian also said the city is working on the concept of allowing open containers on the Boardwalk. A trial program may run this summer from the 4th of July until Labor Day. The mayor believes allowing open alcoholic containers on the Boardwalk is a safe area to do so since it's a street with no vehicular traffic and the idea is done successfully in other cities. Mayor Guardian cautioned that if this becomes a detriment to the city, the program would likely be scrapped after Labor Day and it won't return in 2016.

As for getting Atlantic City ready for the summer, following a brutal winter that beat-up some of the roads in the city, Mayor Guardian said all of Pacific Avenue will be repaved as soon as the weather gets warmer. Sections of Maryland Avenue by Golden Nugget, Arctic Avenue, and most of Baltic Avenue will also be resurfaced. The mayor said half of the roads in the city will be redone by this coming fall.
