Authorities in Cape May County are investigating the death of a man in Sea Isle City.

The scene unfolded just before 6:30 Tuesday morning when the Sea Isle City Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about an unconscious, unresponsive man in the 3700 Block of Central Avenue.

There, first responders found a 49-year-old man without vital signs on the shoulder of that road.

Authorities say there were no visual signs of trauma.

A forensic nurse from the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office pronounced the man dead about an hour later.

Police say this investigation is active and ongoing.

The body has been taken to the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office so a cause of death can be determined.

The name of the victim is not being released until family members can be notified.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Sea Isle City Police Department at (609) 263-4311.
