A local memorial service is planned to honor Cara McCollum, the former Miss New Jersey who died from injuries in a car accident last month.

The Miss New Jersey Education Foundation is hosting a service at 1:30pm Saturday, March 12 for McCollum. It will be held at the Ocean City Tabernacle at 550 Wesley Ave. in Ocean City, according to the organization's Facebook page.

Funeral services were held  Sunday for McCollum in her hometown of Forrest City, Arkansas.

McCollum, 24, had been living in Margate and working as a news anchor at SNJ Today, a Millville-based television news network, died at Cooper University Hospital in Camden Feb. 22, a week after a car accident on Route 55.

McCollum's boyfriend, NBC 10 Philadelphia reporter Keith Jones left his thoughts about the outpouring of support for Cara on his Facebook page....

"I want to express my sincerest thanks for all the love, support, and prayers our families have received over the last two weeks. It has been humbling and overwhelming. Your genuine words give us strength and hope, which we especially needed during my sweet Cara's funeral in Arkansas yesterday. Personally, it gave me the power to deliver her eulogy. I can feel Cara smiling down on us all -- and your support has been an extension of the grace and selflessness she exuded every day. It's a wonderful reminder of all the people Cara was able to touch through her amazing passion and effort in such a short time.

Please share this post and join us Saturday, March 12th as we celebrate her life at 1:30 at the Ocean City Tabernacle in Ocean City, NJ. The details are below, care of the Miss New Jersey Education Foundation.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm eternally grateful."
