"We encourage everybody that has lost their position in Atlantic City to attend our job fair.  We're hoping for a good turnout," said Harold "Hal" Wirths, commissioner of LWD.

The event is being held at the Atlantic City Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 40 employers with hundreds of full-time and part-time opportunities are expected to attend.

"We have jobs all across - from management to casino jobs to financial and insurance - all across the board," Wirths said.

Some of the businesses also include, New Jersey Manufacturers, Omni Bank, PNC Bank, Prudential, Stockton College, Cisco Foods, Shop Rite, Wawa and Wegmans.  Both the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and the Golden Nugget are also looking to hire.

The job fair is one of several that have taken place in Atlantic City this year that has seen the closure of the Atlantic Club on Jan. 13, Showboat on Aug. 31 and Revel on Sept. 2.  Trump Plaza is expected to close on Sept. 16 and Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for bankruptcy Tuesday and threatened to shut down the Taj Mahal Casino Resort on Nov. 13 if it doesn't win salary concessions from union workers.

Wirths said additional job fairs are planned. "We'll definitely be partnering with other groups. I think the local Chamber (of Commerce) is going to do one. So, we're going to be there until everyone that's looking for a job finds a job."

In addition to employers, staff from LWD will also be on hand to help job seekers with resume writing and posting resumes on the www.Jobs4Jersey.com website, LWD's website for job seekers and employers. Wirths said the site has over 300,000 job openings currently listed.

As of this week, Wirths said 2,000 unemployment claims have been filed since January.
