A 28-year-old man from Lower Township was killed early Monday morning on Fishing Creek Road in the township.

Lower Township Police say at about 6:50 this morning, a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old David Thomas crossed into the opposite lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree on Fishing Creek Road. A preliminary investigation by police indicated icy road conditions could have contributed to the accident.

Thomas was initially in route to AtlantiCare Medical Center Trauma Unit. During his transport there, his medical condition began to deteriorate and Lower Township Rescue Squad diverted to Shore Memorial Regional Medical Center where pronouncement was made.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
