Under the heading, Truth is Stranger then Fiction: Harry Hurley has confirmed that Interim Atlantic County Superintendent of Public Schools, Thomas McMahon, Ed.D. has determined that the Atlantic City Board of Education must re-do their recent reorganization for Officers.

Here's the rationale: McMahon has determined that the Brigantine Public Schools are presently 1/2 student below the number required to have a representative on the Atlantic City Board of Education. Hence, McMahon has invalidated then long-time Brigantine Board Member Steve Bonanni's vote for John Devlin to be Board President. However, Devlin won the vote by a vote of 6-4, so Devlin won without Bonanni's vote.

I placed a call to McMahon, however, he was unavailable.

Sources have confirmed to me that Bonnani has been removed from the Board, effectively immediately. Persons(s) obviously have been seeking ways to try and overturn Devlin's ascent to the Board Presidency. Prior to this vote, no one had raised the issue of Brigantine's student enrollment numbers at Atlantic City.

There may be a remedy available to Brigantine and Margate, by combining their enrollment numbers, they may qualify for 1 Board Member.

The sending districts pay more than $ 20 million dollars a year to Atlantic City and now only have 1 Board Member, Kim Bassford from Ventnor to represent their interests.

The facts clearly appear to support that Devlin won the Presidency by 2 votes, so the Bonnani vote didn't matter.

Well placed sources have confirmed to me that Atlantic Board of Education Solicitor, Will Donio has recommended that the Officers elected remain in place as they were voted upon at their recent annual reorganization meeting.

Finally, if Brigantine grows by 1/2 student, they get their Board Member right back.

Several sources have told me that Bonnani is very upset about this unexpected development.
