Hamilton Township Police Busy Sunday Morning Investigating Accidents
Hamilton Township Police were busy early Sunday morning investigating two accidents.
Shortly before 3AM Sunday, police responded to the Black Horse Pike at Wrangleboro Road for the report of a crash. An investigation revealed a SUV driven by 28-year-old Staisy Acevedo-Class on Vineland failed to stop at the northbound traffic light on Wrangleboro Road. The SUV was struck by a car driven by 50-year-old Gloria Delphin of Mays Landing, which was traveling east on the Black Horse Pike.
The collision caused the SUV to flip onto its roof and strike the traffic light, knocking it down. A total of five passengers from both vehicles were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was jammed in the area through much of Sunday as NJDOT crews repaired the traffic light.
About an hour and a half after the crash on the Black Horse Pike, police were called to West Jersey and Harbor Avenues for a report of a car into the woods. When officers arrived, they found an unoccupied car in the woods with severe damage. An investigation revealed the driver, 26-year-old Keefe Harris of Mays Landing, was intoxicated and left the scene. He was located and charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a crash, failure to report a crash, reckless driving, and careless driving. Harris suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
