Early this morning, Egg Harbor Township police arrested a man on numerous charges, including DWI and assault by auto.

Police responded to the parking lot of Juliano’s at Ocean Heights Avenue and Zion Road around 1:45 AM in reference to an aggravated assault. Officers say apparently there was some type of dispute between the suspect, Mark Poper of Egg Harbor Township, and the victim, Cindy Miller of Ventnor, which turned physical. According to reports, Poper punched Miller, got into his vehicle and backed out of his parking space, striking Miller with the vehicle’s door. Poper then pulled forward, running over Miller, and then fled the area. Miller was transported to Shore Medical Center to be treated.

Poper was taken into custody a short time later by Hamilton Township officers for driving while intoxicated and then turned over to Egg Harbor Township police where he was charged with aggravated assault, assault by auto, and other offenses. Poper was also wanted in Gloucester County on a child support warrant.

Poper is being housed in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
