A doctor from Absecon, who could now face life in prison, and five other people were arrested early Wednesday morning following an investigation by the DEA and Absecon Police.

During their investigation, officials recovered nearly 1,000 oxycodone pills that were either purchased or fraudulently prescribed, along with several fraudulent prescription scripts.

Early Wednesday morning, 48-year-old Dr. Alan Faustino of Absecon was arrested and charged as a leader of a narcotics trafficking network and could face life in prison as a result. Also arrested were 38-year-old Jason Cycl of Brigantine, 36-year-old Claudio Valentin of Egg Harbor Township, 26-year-old Kara Minchin of Absecon, 25-year-old Ashley Channell of Galloway, and 67-year-old Stephen Sklar of Atlantic City.

At this time, arraignment dates are pending.
