Firefighters are still on the scene of a  multiple-alarm fire in Atlantic City that broke out late Tuesday night on the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue.

The Press of Atlantic City is reporting that the fire started at A.C. Alterations at 1114 Atlantic Ave.

A family with four children who lived upstairs from the store were able to escape the fire. Fire quickly spread to three other buildings on the block, causing at least two of them to collapse.

The Red Cross was on hand to help those who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
