A man from Atlantic City was indicted Wednesday for killing his mother last October, just days after being released from state prison.

On the morning of October 12th, 2014, Atlantic City Police responded to 1812 McKinley Avenue after receiving a 911 call. When officers arrived, they found 64-year-old Gwendolyn Pratt dead of apparent head injuries. The victim's son, 46-year-old Steven Pratt was found at the scene and detained by police. An autopsy determined Gwendolyn Pratt died of blunt force head injuries and prosecutors charged Steven Pratt with murder.

Just two days before this incident, Steven Pratt was released from state prison after serving a 30-year sentence for a murder in 1984. If convicted, Pratt faces another 30 years in prison.
