An Atlantic City Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting a 16-Year-Old Female
An Atlantic City Police officer pleaded guilty Friday to official misconduct for exploiting his position as an officer in order to sexually assault a child.
44-year-old Andre Corbin of Mays Landing was arrested back on May 19, 2014, after an investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office; he was charged with two counts of official misconduct, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. The State alleges that while performing his official duties, Corbin committed the acts against a 16-year-old victim.
In Atlantic County Superior Court Friday, through a plea agreement, Corbin pleaded guilty to the accusation to one count of official misconduct and one count of sexual assault. Corbin admitted to using Facetime to transmit a picture of a particular body part while in a police uniform, meeting the victim back in 2013, and committing the sexual assault.
Corbin is now potentially facing five to ten years in state prison.
